Common Thread
The British Council has established the Anou residencies called Common Thread as a way to create a meaningful meeting of peers from the UK and Morocco to exchange skills, knowledge and ideas and to explore the relationship between craft and contemporary design in these two countries. It is an opportunity for practitioners from different backgrounds to experience first hand each other’s industries and approaches in a way they might not otherwise have been able to.
I was selected to be part of the Common Thread residency to work with artisans about craft and design through a creative process workshop.
Client: The British Council x Anou
Design workshop
The aim of this workshop was to offer the artisans a methodology on how to initiate a creative process. The workshop was focused on the ability to translate, illustrate, communicate an idea/concept so it becomes something tangible through their craft.
The creative process that I use is the same as the one use in Graphic Design.
After the residence I was asked to design a fanzine to describe and explain our experience during Common thread. The fanzine was in english and arabic and was distribute at the Common Thread exhibition in Morocco.
